August 2014 Newsletter

You are here

At Mediation Services, we have had a very busy month.  We have seen the departure of beloved Executive Director Susan Kuite Smith who moved to the East Coast and have welcomed our new Executive Director Elizabeth Giddings.  We have a new website name, www.MediationServices.Works.  We have a 48-hour SCAO Domestic Mediator Training happening in September.  We have a new online volunteer mediators group home so the mediators can converse, review training materials, and check our live mediation calendar.

We thank you for your support and welcome your continued involvement in our serving our community.

Our New Director Elizabeth Giddings, Director

Mediation Services is highly pleased to announce our new Executive Director is Elizabeth Giddings.  She comes to us with a lengthy career in public and non-profit service.  An accomplished attorney and trained mediator, she earned her law degree at Vanderbilt University and has served as an assistant prosecutor and a special assistant attorney general handling child protective and support cases at the trial and appellate level before helping with other attorneys in Detroit to found the non-profit Michigan Children's Law Center which has represented thousands of children in court protective custody for the past decade.

She currently serves on the Board of Directors of Michigan CASA (Court-Appointed Special Advocates) which further assists children in protective care through supporting county programs throughout Michigan in appointing volunteers on cases to advocate for the needs of children in protective custody.   Elizabeth is a fully trained general civil and domestic relations mediator and brings her wealth of personal experience and insights into this new role of directing Mediation Services.  We are very glad she has joined us and ask that you welcome her aboard.
